This paper summarizes the purpose and design of Accelerated Reader quizzes, including Reading Practice, Literacy Skills, Textbook Series, and Vocabulary Practice Quizzes, as well as recommended best practices for classroom implementation and the evidence of Accelerated Reader's impact on student learning. In addition, the initial and ongoing development process as well as other considerations of assessment design are described. General assessment issues, and the solutions provided by Accelerated Reader to these issues are discussed.
