Relation of Star Reading to Other Standardized Tests of Reading and Higher-Order Thinking Skills

Abstract:

DETAILS: Design: Reliability and validity research; Sample: 308 students in grades 3-8; Measures: Star Reading, Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT); Duration: April 1998.

RESULTS: This study examines the correlation between reading ability and higher-order thinking skills by analyzing the results gathered from the Star Reading assessment tool and the CogAT. Test results reveal strong and highly significant relationships between the two instruments.
